In simple words:

Its a law that makes #religion a criterion for the granting of citizenship to #migrants and refugees by excluding #muslims – regardless of whether they face persecution in their own countries – from its provisions.

Its a result of #Hindutva politics practised by #BJP and its parent #RSS which sadly have also got enough votes in Upper house of the parliament to pass this. 😢

Let's be clear. The #CitizenshipAmendmentBill is less about rehabilitating non-Muslim immigrants from neighbouring countries as citizens. It is more about assuring (non-Muslim) citizens of India that they need not worry even if their names are excluded in NRC.
