Contrariamente a lo que algunos creen, el apodo de “Slowhand” que se le asigna a Eric #Clapton no se corresponde con una forma “lenta” de tocar. El sobrenombre viene de la época de los Yardbirds, en la década de los 60´, cuando el guitarrista tenía la costumbre de cambiar sus cuerdas sobre el escenario cuando se le rompían. Mientras esto sucedía, el público acompañaba con “Slow handclap” (palmadas lentas) para pasar el rato hasta que todo volviera a comenzar. Lo cierto es que Clapton tomó el apelativo para titular el disco que saliera un día como el de hoy pero de 1977.
