I always forget that classical music is really good study music. My usual genres when I'm working or studying are Chill Beats or Bossa Nova, and those both work nicely, but sometimes you want laid back classical works.

I really should stop forgetting this, since my favorite coffee shop to work at plays what my sister calls "Top 40 classical”.

Yesterday's 3mbs marathon got me thinking about the future of #classicalmusic. It seems to me that radio stations and some classical music events are trying to redefine the term "classical" music as a more broader genre which includes folk and world music. I still considder both #world and #folk music as separate genres. The reason they are redefining classical music is that theyare concerned that younger audiences will not attend concerts. It is true that we need to consider programming some contemarry composers in to concerts algside the standard repitroire; however, by drastically redefining classical music, there is the protentathat lose the loyal fanbase of older audience members, and passionate musicians. I like the approach of the MFFOAND others who try to have a mix of standard and contemporary works while performing sound that appeals to younger audience members. Lets leave world the folk music in their rightful place - as the richness of their genre with their own set of values.

Today is a very sad day for us long -time #twitter users. I've been on #twitter since 2007. The platform gave me a social outlet while I was raising my children and made good friends out there. My account got hacked in 2019 and I started another one. I also was involved in many twitter #classicalmusic events from abc classic and 3mbs fine music. It is with much sadness that I will be closing my twitter account, as it is unsustainable to continue it with the twitter app alone. I am extremely thankful for both ew and old here #mastodon, but will miss partitions ting in twitter events and following some #classicalmusic accounts.
