"No single sector in England is prepared for the impacts of climate change – with the last 10 years being a “lost decade” for government action, according to a new assessment from the UK’s climate advisers."

"The UK can build a reliable, secure and cost-effective electricity system that is decarbonised by 2035, says the government’s advisory Climate Change Committee (CCC).

The CCC’s new report is based on new hour-by-hour modelling of the country’s electricity system out to 2035, which includes stress-tests of how it could ride out extended “wind droughts”.

@janrosenow Yes! And the Climate Change Committee's 6th Carbon Budget also has variable renewable at 80% by 2050 (60% in 2030) on Balanced Pathway, with wind being the "backbone". Nuclear has a role, but not a dominant one. I wish people would read these reports rather than simple push their pet tech. letter to Chancellor

"Reducing energy demand in UK buildings is now the biggest gap in current Government energy policy."

"A combination of public funding and Government action is required to facilitate access to and reduce the cost of capital. Our updated analysis suggests that over 60% of households can achieve levels of energy efficiency that are compatible with Net Zero for less than £1,100."
