We were walking along the #harbour in St. John's #Newfoundland at night on our way back to our hotel and this loomed above us with the darkened narrows beyond. With the moon and the glimmering lights on the far shores, it was a lovely calm sight, quite different from the bustling activity of the early morning.

This is quite a famous drive here on the #IsleofWight The #MilitaryRoad is recognised as one of the most beautiful roads in the UK.

The western Solent and South Island shot from Highcliffe clifftop yesterday on a blustery dog walk. Sun was playing hide and seek. Later on a visit to the splendid Beachcomber café at Milford where the island appears much closer and you can see more detail.

Work has started on the Grade II listed Seaburn Tram Shelter on Sunderland's seafront to give it a new lease of life. When work is completed later this year, daytime brunches and even meals will be served from here.
The Salford-born artist LS Lowry, a frequent visitor to Sunderland, who stayed at the Seaburn Hotel across the road, used to wait here to catch the bus into the town where he sketched the industrial views along the riverside.

We walked around #Cohasset, #Massachusetts #USA in the unusually warm (50 F, 10 C) “winter” weather here in #NewEngland. This is an (absurdly) prosperous #coastal community just south of #Boston. The walk included lovely views across coves and marshes (including #invasive Phragmites australis and #peat under #native #Spartina), as well as nice exposures of the > 600 Ma #Dedham #granite, the #pluton coring most of the #Avalon terrane in this area.
