@dublininquirer The conflict between loss of amenity and protection of property is also playing out here In North Wexford. On Kilgorman Beach concrete defences have been erected on sand dunes. In addition to being unsightly they also tend to block the beach for walkers when seas are running higher (primarily in Winter). The soft sand dunes tend to lend a walkable strip year round whereas the hard concrete does not. #CoastalDefence

They may provide protection to property but negatively disturb the natural environment and reduce beach access to the general public at times when seas are high.
