I speak out openly today about the lack of #accountability in the department of #computersci in #sheffielduni #uniofsheffield and how I was treated because I have had enough of keeping quiet about this. After all the reading on defiance of brown and black women. Watching #codedbias and reading #datafeminism I want accountability from my department. I want justice that had been denied to me, for both the harm and trauma they caused due to their failures of process, and their aversion to evidence.

For #BlackFriday, I'd like to recommend Coded Bias, a documentary about just that -- the unfairness that can be baked into Artificial Intelligence (AI). (And is, for sure, when it comes to facial recognition.) Directed by Shalini Kantayya and the principle subject is MIT media researcher Joy Buolamwini.100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
