The top ten #programming languages. Back in 2003 I started messing around in #python , a couple of years later some colleagues told me I should use only #java as Python was of no value... I think they got the wrong langauge, the one I used in school #comal was in the end of less use.

@clacke #Comal was developed in Denmark and was the default programming language taught in public schools here in the 80s (on clunky nationally designed 80186 based RC759 PICCOLINE machines running Concurrent CP/M). Similar story to the Swedish Compis.

It was available for (citing Wikipedia) the BBC Micro, Commodore PET, C64/128, Amiga, PICCOLINE, Compis, Scandis, CP/M, IBM PC, Tiki 100, ZX Spectrum, Grundy NewBrain, Windows XP but probably saw most penetration in the segments where its use was subsidised (e.g. public education).
