Hello #Hachyderm ! I moved to this instance a couple weeks ago, but never did an #Introduction so here you go 🙂
I'm a product designer / #UX designer based out of #Minnesota. I currently work at Target (the U.S. retailer), on the cart and checkout team for the app and the website. I’m closing in on almost a decade working in design, but I actually had a previous career in academia (any #ComparativeLiterature folks here? 😀).

A colleague of mine is organizing a #conference for #ComparativeLiterature and #BookHistory in Columbia, SC -- February 23-25, 2023. The keynote speakers are lined up and fabulous! (Katie Chenoweth, Julie Park, and Bonnie Mak)
The deadline for unsolicited abstracts has passed, but I've been tasked with organizing some digital humanities events. Not sure what it'll involve yet (maybe papers, maybe something more fun). If you think you might like to participate, drop me a line and we can think of something together! In the past, these conferences have been great -- big enough to run concurrent panels but small enough to get to know everyone. I'd love to see you there!

So, it looks like, as in any real social situation we introduce ourselves here:
I am a #literaryscholar (English and American Studies) working on #comparativeliterature and #medicalhumanities. I specialise in #turkishliterature. My main interest is in #psychiatry and it includes any #psych and #mindsciences field.
I #travel (or used to pre-COVID) quite a bit and love exploring art, history and architecture. I am fond of the #ocean and generally being by the #water. I adore #dogs

Doing my #introduction here! PhD candidate at Yale, working in #caribbeanstudies & #ComparativeLiterature (that’s in order of my priorities, yes). I think of myself as a frustrated, belated historian who just happens to work with cultural and literary texts. I’m also just starting out with some #digitalhumanities ideas. Hoping to find my old twitter connections here soon—to new conversations and communities!

@tsmith Just a general language requirement: 3 in addition to English. Other #ComparativeLiterature programs ask for at least 1 ancient language.
Now that I'm happily settled into a server I see myself staying on long-term (Humanities Commons), I thought I would finally write an #introduction.
I'm Smaran Dayal, currently an Assistant Prof. of #Literature at #Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.
I recently got my #PhD in #ComparativeLiterature from #NYU. My PhD dissertation, which I'm now working into a book was a study of literary #Afrofuturism, in particular the novels of #SamuelDelany and #OctaviaButler.
Along with Ulrich Baer, during the first year of the pandemic, I co-edited an anthology of American literature titled Fictions of America: The Book of Firsts.
My primary research interests are #GlobalAnglophone and #AfricanAmerican literature, #postcolonial literary studies, #queertheory and #queerliterature, and, centrally, #sciencefiction studies.
Lovely to (re)connect with you all here!
