Part 2 - This is my #illustration of the top of the bronze Late La Tene #IronAge #scabbard from #Congham #Norfolk ,It was a rare find from a wet deposit in woodland, where it may have been an offering to the gods, it had been folded in two possibly to ritually kill the object, a practice often found with weapons. The decoration is similar to that found on the objects in the famous #Snettisham treasure hoard also from West of Norfolk. #archaeology #LaTene #design #Celtic #weapon #history

Looking back on my favourite #Norfolk #Archaeological #find that I have had the honour to illustrate for the county archive. This is the tip of a magnificent #IronAge bronze #scabbard from #Congham. It was found in good condition bent in two in a waterlogged ditch running through a wood. It was about 30 inch long. The engraved decoration is wonderfully delicate in its execution. The upper part is also beautifully decorated. #illustration #Archeodon #histordons #archaeology
