Could I suggest an alternative strategy? What might be especially valuable is knowing the population researchers who are actively posting here. I'd love to see a list of demographers who have at least 25 posts (making this would probably require clicking on profiles of lots of people). If you made such a list, it would be great to copy the soc, econ, poli sci guppe lists to build community.

@janicebraden Yes, @WalterShaub has done great work identifying familiar folks from Twitter who have set up an account here. Unfortunately, I haven’t found any way to filter lists like his to identify people who are actively posting (most on Walter’s list are not). So I chose an important set of users - #journalists - and manually identified those who are active. I hope #ConradsList will be useful for anyone who wants to follow people tracking/reporting the news.

@yokai @sarahposner For everyone who followed a big list of #journalists and is disappointed that most are either not posting much at all or cross-posting tweets, check out the #Conradslist hashtag for a list of journalists actively and natively posting here.

@quigs I found the accounts primarily by looking at the "following" lists of other journalists and clicking through to profiles of likely journalists to see who has at least 20 posts. I also asked for suggestions (#Conradslist) and got a few that way.

Find trusted accounts that have migrated here:
https://fedified.com/ is a hand-curated listed of verfied Twitter users with a Mastodon handle in their profile.

@DataDrivenMD "Fedifies" the accounts of folks verified on the birdsite before verification started selling there for $8.

Some "fedified" accounts haven't posted much. See #Conradslist to find journalists who are actively posting.

If you are on the fedified list, you can get a green check on your Mastodon profile (see image below)

It's great that many journalists are here -- there are about 500 listed in the spreadsheet below. But the overwhelming majority have not really begun to actively post here. I recommend following from #Conradslist of active accounts.
