I love it when trees grow on rocks. It shows just how determined and resilient they can be, if we let them.
This oak is part of one of the few remaining areas of temperate rainforest in the UK - look at the tree ferns growing on it.
We need to protect and extend these precious remnants.

Sad to report that juvenile #kakapo Xenicus (1.5 years old) has been found dead on Anchor Island, apparently having been hit by a falling tree. Animals have accidents too. There are now 247 kākāpō left alive. #conservation #parrots Pic: Petrus Hedman.

Several ships are stranded at both ends of the #PanamaCanal due to #water #conservation measures during a severe drought. Vessel-tracking data shows over 200 ships are waiting to transit due to the canal's reduced daily limit of 32, down from the usual average of 36.
