Website design: “UX as ‘growing a relationship,’ providing something of value rather than squeezing the most out of a single session. ”

Language as well as design contributes to the (designed in?) confusing nature of #CookieBanners.
How is a "normal person" expected to navigate and actually consent to a load of things they are unlikely to understand?
80-something% of cookie banners analysed are "illegal" in some way or another.

I started closing most of the websites that greet me with #CookieBanners or #CookiePopups immediately. I'd rather not even spend a second on them, even if it means I have to get info from somewhere else..
Another neat feature of #brave the #browser, which you can also have on uBlock Origin (and I believe #firefox also implements) is that, starting from v1.45 published last month, it automatically takes care of the annoying #cookiebanners and their dark patterns.
I certainly struggle with the very idea that, on one hand, #cybersecurity #awareness is all about training users to _think_ before they _click_, while on the other, cookie banners drive users to _click_ before they _think_ just to get rid of the misbegotten banners.
Even when users, caring about their #privacy, go the extra mile of thwarting the dark patterns, selecting those cookies they want to allow or refusing them altogether (provided they ain’t tricked again by dark patterns and websites respect their choices), it is still maddening to some extent.
So if you care #care about privacy and want to avoid schizophrenia, use #brave, configure uBlock Origin to the same effect or another #browser which automatically reject cookies.
Please note that there are two implementations:
- Brave and uBlock Origin (and Firefox?) don’t communicate with consent-tracking systems and take care of blocking cookies while modifying the pages to avoid displaying the banners
- Others communicate with consent-tracking systems (less strong privacy-wise).

Question for fellow #webdevelopers: How do you go about #privacypolicies #CookieBanners and the entire legal froth surrounding any #webapp?
I feel deeply frustrated by this, as I don't have the legal knowledge to write legally sufficient yet understandable documents, and automated services that do exist usually just generate hard-to-read content rather than useful, informative documents.
