Certainly encouraging to see that the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment is seeing its work on revising the co-operative legislation as part of its overall enterprise strategy,

And that it is linking its enterprise strategy with the encouraging policy developments happening at the Department of Rural and Community Affairs.

Joined up thinking across policy maker has always been a challenge in Ireland, so good progress here.

A new White Paper on Enterprise was published by the Government of Ireland this week.

It is pretty high level (to say the least) and doesn't mark much of a departure from existing policy based on a first review.

There is reference to the role of #cooperatives and #socialenterprise, which while very tangentially referenced - certainly represents some progress compared to past national policy.
