Light Day One

On the fourth day God created the sun, moon, and stars (Gen 1:14-16). So, what was the light God created on day one (Gen 1:3)?

When we look at the word for “light,” used in the Old Testament, it speaks of order. The BDB dictionary defines the word as: “light of instruction,” or “light of life.”
Light is what helps us see clearly, otherwise our eyes would be blinded.

The light in the beginning was the WORD (ref Jn 1:1). God created everything in His order/Law. The sun rising each day paints a picture of us seeing the deeper understanding of who God is (ref 1 Pe 1:19).

One of the most important questions to ask while reading Scripture is: “why?”

The way we think, is not the way that the Lord thinks (Isaiah 55:8). God wants us to know Him, which comes by understanding His character, His ways, and His patterns. Asking God why He does something gives us wisdom and access into God's mind. It allows us to have an intimate relationship with God and know Him on a deeper level.
Our process as Christians should be to strive to know His ways (thoughts) and walk in them. This can ONLY happen through renewing our mind (thoughts) through the deeper understanding of His word (Col 3:10).
