The Internet of #Water (IoW) initiative proposes a federated system of data providers and consumers that are aggregated into domain-specific "hub" organizations and coordinated by a single "umbrella" organization.
#Data producers are to maintain ownership and control of their information and federation is intended to be cache-only in that information ownership should never be transferred if the data producer wants to maintain ownership.

One of the most vulnerable parts of the #CriticalZone is a coastline. Especially in #hurricane season.
This story from the #USGS describes some of the ways researchers are working to better understand the #ComplexSystems that work where land meets ocean.

Our collaborators have a life outside the Cluster.
Here's how #Hydrology researcher James Shanley, based at the United States Geological Survey in Vermont, worked with a variety of other experts to better understand a #fractured #aquifer and what it could mean for a broader understanding of what could possibly contaminate these important water sources.

#Wildfire disturbances in the #CriticalZone have widespread impacts on soil and water #chemistry. Which are things members of the #BigData Cluster are very interested in.
We are among many, many researchers around the world studying these #ComplexSystems and how they function as part of a healthy critical zone.
