This must be the most charming little station I went to last year. Černousy in Czechia. There is a #CrossBorderRail line from Zawidów in Poland, but no passenger trains run.
From Černousy this neat railbus runs to Liberec, departing from the little station behind the old apple trees. https://flickr.com/photos/jonworth-eu/52730141179/in/album-72177720306512199/
🤣 Just been emailed by a radio show that wants to speak to me about my Ireland trip this evening
"Can you please not do any other radio interviews about this topic before you have spoken to us?" they asked me
What do they think I am!? That radio shows are queuing up to speak to me about #CrossBorderRail? 🤔 Sure it'd be nice, but radio work about this is pretty rare!
Irish Times has written about my #CrossBorderRail project last week in Ireland with @Ciarancuffe It's not a complete overview of the headaches of rail+ferry trips, but it does convey the petty annoyances with such journeys quite well… https://www.irishtimes.com/transport/2023/09/11/study-on-irish-public-transport-highlights-lack-of-connectivity/
Good to see Jon Worth’s exploration of Irish rail and maritime borders get an airing in the Irish Times.
Irish Rail need a mind shift though when they say:
“Ultimately it is going to be down to demand and finance”
The climate demands investment in sustainable travel and seriously how expensive would it be to run buses and trains to connect with ferries?
#CrossBorderRail #climateaction #climateemergency
Ah, well, German ticket pricing of it's best.
Safer fare Europa : EUR 190

Or as I call it : The #Binz hack.

I have uploaded the pictures from my most recent France-Ireland-UK #CrossBorderRail trip to Flickr - on my Photostream here https://www.flickr.com/photos/jonworth-eu/
Including this photo at Fishguard harbour - with really nice colours of the water…
Have France and Germany found some sort of solution to actually run some of the new Régiolis trains from December 2024, rather than 2026…? https://www.wort.lu/international/neuer-triebwagen-fur-besseren-grenzuberschreitenden-zugverkehr/2748795.html #CrossBorderRail
Agh, Freiburg-Colmar #CrossBorderRail
It *would* work, but given that pretty much ALL of the France-Germany international rail lines are deeply deficient, I wonder if this one (which is the hardest of all to fix) sucks away interest in fixing the easier problems at other lines?

So I have planned a little Slovenia-Italy-Austria borders tour for my 3 extra Interrail days...

Just 2 Railjet, 2 regional and 1 Nightjet a day? 🤔
I recall this used to be better. Are there engineering works somewhere messing this up?
Here’s today’s summary video https://urbanists.video/w/nGfrYrmpkSFuwjDSxwvGj8
I now have 5 days of break
#CrossBorderRail resumes Thursday 14 September
