My first impression of the list is that it sucks to be an author in a big publishing house unless you’re Olli Jalonen (Otava), already two time winner of the prize. All the other nominees are from medium size publishers. In my eyes the list is a clear protest against the monopolistic tendencies of the Finnish publishing scene, with books mainly from independents. #literature #culturalpolicy #books
