Jump forward in time to 2017, and my sweaty big palms are opening a big letter with an Oxford postmark on it, the contents of which is a letter telling me I'd passed the course and had been awarded a Masters degree. The Manic Street Preachers are so right: libraries really do give us power. 📖📚

The Christmas notebook.
On Christmas Eve the table in our living room was filled with all the goodies, mainly of a chocolate nature and they stayed there – outside meals for the whole of Christmas. How we ate it all I never know, and my mother saved up for months to put this spread on just for Christmas.

Day 14 of
From 1959 to 1984 my mother kept lists of cards to send, presents and shopping to do for Christmas, her favourite time of year. These were all kept in small notebooks that luckily I have inherited and had not looked at for years. These are a selection from the early 1960s of stocking fillers and presents. These notebooks are now safely at Gwent Archives.

Remembering my relative David O’Sullivan killed on D-Day parachuting into France to take Pegasus Bridge. Pictures taken by my landlord visiting the war graves in Normandy this summer. Who's uncle, in a weird coincidence was one of my cousins officers.
