Lately I've been fascinated by the artwork of Hajime Sorayama, which combines #retrofuturism and (NSFW) pin-up styles. This piece in particular makes me think of #tech as religion: dial-up tones as prayer, cyberspace as a place of worship. An ironic faith, as Donna Haraway calls it in "Cyborg Manifesto," and yet one that is as relevant today as it was in 1985. Lettings these thoughts percolate in hopes of #writing a #scifi story - stay tuned 📺 #cyberfeminism

I'm an associate professor of English at Texas A&M. I'm interested in #ScienceFiction, #ScienceFictionStudies, #Rhetoric (esp. rhetoric of technology), and #DigitalHumanities.
My first book was on transhumanism. I'm currently working on a book provisionally entitled *The Radical 90s: The Informatics of Domination and The Infrastructures of Utopia, 1984-1999*, which re-considers the legacy of Internet Utopianism during the 1990s with a focus on #CyberPunk, #CyberFeminism, and #InfrastructureStudies (and lots of memes). There are chapters on *Akira*, *Jurassic Park*, and *The Matrix*, amongst others.
I'm also passionate about minimal writing software. I do all my academic writing in #Neovim using #Pandoc #Markdown. I use #Linux whenever possible. I'd be perfectly happy never using a computer mouse again.
