One the the helmets - the Vera Natura, produced by Chinese brand Tengingyue - was sold at major US retailer Walmart between August 2022 and February 2023.
The second helmet is the Zacro adult bicycle helmet, from Cyclingsell.com, also of China.

I slept through the original 9/11, which was probably good for me. But it also was the beginning of the end of my journalism career, after the industry mostly prostituted itself in service of Dubya's war machine, no dissent tolerated. So I was determined to "forget" what today is, and that meant a robust ride that was just a tiny bit longer than anything I've done since the crash. Temps in the brisk 50s helped, but still plenty of debris from last week's storm. Offline till tomorrow.

✅ 11,000 miles in 2023.
Skies were much more ominous than expected, the wacky wind was anywhere from zero to 22mph, and I saw a couple bursts of lightning off to the far north. 387mi is by far my biggest week post-crash; I could've tried for the metric and an even 400mi, but: (1) I was kinda tired, so it can wait; (2) it looks like the rain will begin in just a few minutes anyway. Possibly wet week ahead.

Today is 2 months since my crash .... and it didn't start well. Before ride-out, days after my front tire was mangled, I found a bald spot on my rear tire. Kissing another $40 goodbye, I replaced it and finally got going after 4am. Yesterday's hilly metric still had me a bit worn out, but I decided to go for the metric anyway. It was tough, but I did it: back-to-back metrics just 2 months after I laid unconscious and bleeding on a city street for an hour at 6am before anyone found me.

i really need to check how wind affects heat indexes. i know where i’m from it makes it colder, but now i need to know if it wicks the sweat away in a humid climate. there was no wind today. i was drenched. so i tried riding harder to see if that would dry me out a little #cycling #biketooter #velophants #colombia #travel
