@marcrr Yes! There’s a GitHub issue about this, and the idea of tweaking the #hashtag rules to include a #doi (or at least the saner ones avoiding < and > etc?). https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/19992

Oh, great -- I just found that #figshare has broken a potentially huge number of #DOI links (they've broken an internally re-redirect, so it's fixable, but still). I'm not quite sure under what condition, but it appears a fair number of DOIs ending in .v1 for projects with only a single version are affected.
Try e.g. the DOI under "Cite" here: https://figshare.com/articles/journal_contribution/Leadership_in_Times_of_Populism_Selected_Examples_of_Italian_Political_Leaders/7533152

#ICYMI The "High #mountain areas" chapter Hock et al. of the @IPCC_CH Special Report on the Ocean & #Cryosphere in a Changing #Climate #SROCC is freely available in final form with a fully fledged #doi https://doi.org/10.1017/9781009157964.004. Not deprecated yet hopefully.

"Haaland has prioritized publicly examining the trauma caused by these schools. In May, the Interior Department released a first-of-its-kind report pointing out 408 schools the federal government supported that stripped Native Americans of their cultures and identities. At least 500 children are known to have died at some of the schools. But when more research is done, that statistic is likely to rise." #Indigenous #Native #NativeAmerican #DOI #Interior #BIA #Arizona

Looking at the data #CrossRef (they manage the #DOI|s for scholarly publishing) has on translated articles I found some Easter eggs.
They have a publisher, the "Society of Psychoceramics", which has several journals.
My favorite, working on historical climate data, is the "Journal of Metadata Perfection". Would love to be able to publish there.
They published the articles:
- When your best metadata isn't good enough: working with an imperfect specification
- but what if i tried again

IA and others provide a #ARK identifier
which should be persistent like a #DOI if I understood correctly. Here is an ARK resolver:
