I use #Linux as the main OS on my computers, but also use Windows 10 on one.
For the sole reason to download the #ebooks I buy.
I play the occasional Windows-only game as well, but those I can do without.
I can't do without ebooks.
I really, really wish there was an open standard for getting any ebook, with or without #drm, onto any device without having to rely on a single piece of software from one company.

@Deiru I think that game only sells because there is no good #RainbowSix or #SwatGame geleased for more than a decade and legit copies of #R6V2 basically crash after playing one level and transitioning to the next due to broken #DRM.

We should still remain wary of it though. The reason why the #W3C wound up ratifying #EME #DRM was because every browser vendor had already privately licensed and shipped video DRM behind their back.

Any attempt to ship attestation in a browser needs to be opposed. If only on the rationale that attestation could be easily abused to hide malware (since a lot of malware is scanned for with automated bots).

For about 10 years now I've been on Firefox and avoided using Google products wherever possible. I still have some accounts that need an e-mail change, but that's just laziness. We really could live without Google.

Does anyone know of publishers who sell DRM-free ebooks besides Tor? As I'm moving my ebook library over to my Boox device, I'm running into the DRM issue on a lot of my Kobo library.

Now, you might say, "Just download the Kobo app and read them through it."

Which is fair and I've done that. However, this introduces a new issue: the feature set and font/layout handling on those proprietary apps STINKS.

I want my book money to support DRM-free and authors. Any good storefronts?
