2️⃣ The report puts forward a Baseline Framework for Digital Services Risk Management. The goal is simple: it aims "to offer a simple but viable model for researchers to apply" some principles when identifying, evaluating and mitigating #systemicrisks (as under art. 34 & 35 of the #DSA).

I think the model is well thought and documented. I believe it will have a broader impact and be a source of inspiration for Trust & Safety teams and most of online services having to deal with content online!

Moreover, the 24-hour must-carry rule does not solve the REAL issue: the unbalanced relationship between online platforms (VLOPs) and media (MSPs).

💪We need more solutions that lead to more diverse and plural landscape of media content on online platforms.

⏭️ MEPs will vote on #EMFA in the plenary soon.

We and our partners will continue to push for a #EMFA that:

✅ is harmonised with the #DSA
✅ protects media plurality
✅ helps fight #disinformation

🤔 What's so bad about the 24-hour must-carry rule?

❌ It could fuel #disinformation. Self declared media isn't inherently trustworthy.
❌ It will prevent swift action against disinformation which is CRITICAL. We need efficient content moderation rules
❌ It undermines the #DSA

From August 25th VLOPs have to comply with #DSA: their algorithms should be redesigned to cause no harm. Meta, TikTok, X and others now have to explain how their recommender systems work and offer alternative feeds that are not based on profiling people.

In reality Vlop! does not exist. It was made up by @panoptykon.
But real VLOPs do exist and we use their services everyday. The term “Very Large Online Platform” comes from the #DigitalServicesAct (#DSA) and refers to companies such as Instagram, TikTok and X.

Coming back to the office after 2 months to find out that #Amazon,

the 4th largest company *in the world* by revenue,

which runs an #ecommerce website with 2+ billion monthly users,

argues its "fundamental rights" have been violated by the @EU_Commission because they designated Amazon as #VeryLargeOnlinePlatform under the #DigitalServicesAct.

You can't make this shit up.
