Believe it or not – when #Tokyo was still called #Edo (before 1868), it was a green megapolis. The local lords (daimyō) had three or more residences in the shogunates capital, adorned with extensive gardens. With 300 lords, we have about 1.000 #DaimyōGardens! You can see them on the upper left and the bottom of here. Unfortunately, only a handful of these gardens remain. The rest was used as building land! #日本庭園 #JapaneseGardens
