@jimenagb That's an interesting question. After discussing the #daisyworld with a friend my hypothesis is that ecosystems that we perceive as stable (i.e., no significant changes for a long time) are self-selecting. These just happen to be stable, otherwise they would rapidly change to the next system that's maybe stable. My hypothesis for newness is in the conventional fold.
