Recently, I combined a work trip with a visit to my childhood home. It’s a very pretty, hilly region full of salmonid rivers. But they’re no salmon anymore. The reason for their demise: small, inefficient hydropower plants. They’re everywhere. And as a kid, I found that completely normal. I thought that this was the way a river was supposed to look like. Now, the sight just makes me sad. All 6 plants I visited could be easily replaced with a single wind turbine. We don’t need them. #DamRemoval

#DamRemoval on the #BronxRiver would increase diversity, improve public health, provide new business opportunities, and expand the tax base.
