I’m so sad to hear about the loss of George. He was a hero in every sense of the word, as were all the crews of 617 Squadron. I own so many items signed by him. Books, cards, a souvenir edition of the Dambusters DVD, and to cap it all, a huge model replica of a Lancaster that flew in one of the raids.
RIP, and thank you George. We owe you so much and you won’t be forgotten.

RIP to George "Johnny" Johnson, the bomb aimer who famously attacked the Sorpe dam with 617 Sqn in the #Dambusters raid. To cause damage on the 10th pass, with just one UPKEEP bomb that was not suited to the Sorpe, was a testimony to Johnson's resolve, courage, grit & precision.
