i've continued the #frameufferphone project at https://sr.ht/~hamblingreen/framebufferphone. Miles Alan discontinued the project earlier this year and i want to get it to a spot where it can be daily driven on #postmarketos and #danctnix. first up on the todo list: update fbp to be based on zig 0.10.1

#ArchLinux / #danctnix now ships #Linux #megi 6.4 which has all #PinePhonePro patches for correct camera rotation and location (front/back - used for automatic mirroring in some apps and better camera naming).

This is a great step for having a good camera experience out of the box - the only thing still missing is #wireplumber being installed by default (see https://github.com/dreemurrs-embedded/Pine64-Arch/issues/537)

After that, one can e.g. install #gnomesnaphot or @dino from #Flathub and it should just work.

@poleguy i currently use #danctnix arch linux ARM with #sxmo installed. it works best for me because 1. i'm already used to arch, 2. the bleeding-edge-ness isn't a problem for me 95% of the time and 3. sxmo is super fast by pinephone standards. i've heard great thing about #postmarketos as well, sxmo's native platform. the biggest draw to sxmo for me is it's minimal power consumption, speed, and simplicity. it's as customizable as any sway desktop while it still "just works" ootb

i just upgraded to #sxmo 1.14 on my #pinephone using #danctnix arch linux arm! really excited for the changes this upgrade brings, especially pertaining to the new sxmobar status bar. the new icons are next-level and definitely give a polished feeling to my favorite #linuxmobile UI. thanks to the sxmo team for another great release!

I'm not normally a fan of #introductions, but I I'll give it a shot. I'm a #foss enthusiast interested in systems level programming. I often tinker with #sxmo and #danctnix.

I'm a Telemark skier and amateur gardener, hopefully I'll get around to sharing some of that here.

I live in #newhampshire #newengland, and much prefer the cooler months, especially when there's skiing.

#sxmo tip: by adding the following lines in your inputhandler hook under the "twoup" line (Config > Hooks > inputhandler) you can add a gesture that brings up the terminal and keyboard whenever you swipe up with two fingers

@frox @pavot My suspend is working fine now. It was only about 1 week that it wouldn't wake up without a reboot. What keeps me from using the #PinePhonePro as my only phone is the echo on the other end of the line. I also have a real hard time with #PulseAudio. I tried switching to #PipeWire but I was unfamiliar and didn't learn much.

with the testing release of #sxmo 1.12.0 on #danctnix arch linux arm, i decided i'd test this release on my #pinephone. here's my current #convergence setup. #linuxmobile for the win!

@linmob @postmarketOS Interesting, I have exactly the same Pinephone version you mentioned and #pmOS did fail in the same way a few versions ago as well. In both cases I flashed the image to an SD card and used a fresh installation (no update !) on that SD. I still have the beta version of #pmOS installed on the eMMC. I hesitate to overwrite it with an unusable new version of #pmOS. I used the same SD card for the test and the successful installation of #danctnix.

just finished testing #framebufferphone on #danctnix after applying all patches currently awaiting upstreaming. everything now works as expected to my knowledge. hooray!

@Kajo #danctnix Arch Linux läuft wieder auf dem #pinephone. Die Installation ist stark verbessert ! Es wird sogar nach online accounts gefragt und die Kontakte von Nextcloud funktionieren auf Anhieb. Die Sprache lässt sich wie auch die lokale virtuelle Tastatur nun bei der Installation auswählen. Nur den SW-Manager vermisse ich. Zum Glück weiss ich, wie man Updates mit #pacman von der Kommandozeile aus machen kann.
Nach der Installation der Version 20220729 waren 337 Pakete zu aktualisieren.😯

Again: #pmOS (20221102-0439-postmarketOS-v22.06-phosh-18-pine64-pinephone) neither detects the modem chip nor the wireless LAN chip in my #pinephone. In addition it assumed that my fully charged battery is empty. This is another reason to stay with #danctnix arch linux. Had to set it up again after the last update went bad. The installation of arch linux is very good and the pinephone works

Vorgestern hat mein #pinephone das aktuelle #danctnix update nicht überlebt. Runterfahren ging nicht korrekt, nun ist der Akku leer und nach dem Aufladen bootet es auch nicht mehr.
Nun ja, das aktuelle Image herunter laden, auf die SD-Karte schreiben und hoffen. Sonst wieder einmal #pmOS probieren.

@Casinoslcohol it already is depending on the level of change you're willing to commit to. for me, calling and texting are the bare minimum and my #pinephone running #danctnix arch linux arm has let me down less than my old android. software development and social networking are just the icing on the cake
