If "Dante and Aristotle" is more a more dramatic story, i don't think the reception to "Bros" will have much to do with the fact that it doesn't have distribution.

I work in Hollywood. The entire industry is struggling with whether to release "regular, non-superhero" movies in theaters or put them straight to streaming.

But related to #Bros, another #YA work #DanteAndAristotle the YA novel by #BenjaminAlireSaenz has a movie adaptation that was released at #TIFF in September. It still lacks distribution and I think it is because of the negative reception of #Bros that no one wants to pick up another gay movie. The movie got great reviews at #TIFF and book is on another level from #AliceOseman. He’s a poet and his writing (first person) is lyrical and breathtaking.
