Not very surprising, but #GoogleFi is using some #DarkPatterns to obfuscate "we are selling your call history and location data to the highest bidder for ad targeting" with the opt-out buried at the end of the email. https://fi.google.com/about/tos/#google-fi-privacy-notice

The best part is they call it "opt-in" after pre-selecting the opt-in setting for everyone and sending an email saying you have 30 days to opt out. So that is just a lie.

Repetitive reminders are one of the more annoying #DarkPatterns. Apple has been telling me basically every-other-time I open my photos app that I'm out of iCloud storage. I fear the reminders are going to win out eventually, but that's the kind of positive reinforcement I don't want to send them :(

It might be just me but I think PayPal put two extremely shady changes into their payment flow recently:
- on first page load, you do not get offered the "pay by credit/debit card" choice - the ONLY way to proceed is through creating an account. Close + reopen the page, hey presto, the button to create an account has changed to the guest checkout version - but with exactly the same styling
- when checking out as a guest, a slider toggle to create an account is checked by default
