In the meantime, I read large parts of the overhyped #dolmenwood preview. As so often in the #OSR scene: A lot of noise about not very much, but this time at least more than the total #MörkBorg bullshit!
#dolmenwood reminds me of a fairytale melange of #Dragonquest's #TheEnchantedWood, the old #RobinHood series and #Symbaroum / #Davokar. Unsurprisingly with a pinch of #Glorantha / #Runequest.
The "elf ladies" in the preview (p. 63) are charming, otherwise not very convincing.

@Morgunin Meines Wissens wurde es von #Symbaroum inspiriert. Gleichwohl deckt es m. E. lediglich die typischen #ttrpg Aspekte ab. Der #Davokar bietet ein mythisch-politisches Spielfeld, also mehr Dungeon- oder Forest-Crawls.
Unterdessen beschwöre ich @HeyeBodo. Ich nehme an, er vertritt eine andere Position.

@factolvictor All hail Queen Korinthia! I helped to make the international version possible. I think the setting and the atmosphere are the strong side of #Symbaroum, a mashup of #PrincessMononoke and #GameofThrones. The system has some challenges (zero to hero).
I don’t know much about #TrophyDark but I strongly disagree with @HeyeBodo comparison.
Treasure hunting in the #Davokar is not even a half of the game, it‘s closer to #WFRP #TEW (etc.) It’s no indie #ttrpg. For the #IronPact! Enjoy.

In the past, when I was still chasing the hottest shit, I would have pointed out that expansions have been released for #RuinsOfSymbaroum. But especially for the worlds most undermonetized #ttrpg I don't do free advertising anymore.

In the other #ttrpg news! Finally, the last part of the #ThroneofThorne campaign (#6) has been announced for the #Symbarum #ttrpg by #FreeLeague. (Q1/2023?)

Frankly, the #Davokar and its surroundings are among my favourite (dark) #fantasy settings - especially in recent years.

@greenspindle @Morgunin I'm totally in love with #Symbaroum, the setting. The #IronPact grabs me like the #BlackHand of #Vampire did back then. #QueenKorintia & Co. are similarly exciting. If you like the #Davokar, you should give it a try. We had a #ZeroToHero „issue“, respectively there were glass cannons, this was not problematic for us, for others it was to my knowledge. House rules?
On the hand, the corruption system is one of the coolest risk management/death spirals I know. #Goodstuff!

Beim #IronPact! Kann es sein, dass die #DnD #5e Adaption des #Symbaroum #ttrpg irgendwie runder rüberkommt als das Orginal? Bin jetzt wirklich kein #DnD #Fanboy - weder 5e noch #OSR o.Ä. - aber, was ich bisher in #RuinsOfSymbaroum lese, hat was! Atmosphäre und Stil kommen gelungen rüber, Balancing ist mir ohnehin ziemlich egal, ich vermag die Wirkung am Spieltisch nicht abzuschätzen. Die Ansätze und Ideen erinnern mich an #AiME - mit dem sehr coolen #Davokar Dreh. Corruption, Baby! Enjoy!

@Morgunin Tolle, aussagefähige Kurzübersicht!! Würdest Du die #DnD Portation #Symbaroum selbst bevorzugen? Das Original war bei uns eher tödlich und nicht sonderlich gebalanced. Wie passt das Spielgefühl bei #Symbsroum5e?
Ich dachte bislang eher an einen #BoL bzw. #BRP Hack...
