#day11 of #30daysongchallenge - a song that you never get tired of
“Runner” by Laura Stevenson
Laura’s gift for harmonies amazes me, but never more so than on this song. Despite having listened to it a hundred times, the intricacies of her vocal runs and counterpoint on the big chorus here always seems to reveal new layers in the song.
Lloyd had a #CakeFine to pay and he did so this evening. He even remembered his #StreetTriage #nurse when paying his dues. Good lad.
#Donuts and #Police are a bit of a cliché, but with the shift I was having I didn’t care. Donuts are my reason to be happy #today, #day11 of #100HappyDays / #365HappyDays.

On #Day11 of #100DaysOfDevelopment, I worked on a main part of the UI/UX in my app: showing a stack of cards that one can flip through. Had an issue with showing the back side of the card first with the wonderful [DeckKit](https://github.com/danielsaidi/DeckKit) package by @danielsaidi, but with a [push](https://github.com/danielsaidi/DeckKit/issues/5) in the right direction from the latter, I made it work 🤟.
I need to modify 15 files just to add to the read screen the ability to read from a read list, because the next or previous book could be different from a series flow.
I'm at #day11 every new of them from the #100daysofcode brings me closer to the #MVP of the project aka v1.0.0

A bit late today for #Day11 of my #cop15 series (out all day)! Today it's #NorthAmerica, looking into fire management practices. It's pretty well known by now that one factor contributing to the severity of wildlfires in recent years (as well as climate change) is the interruption of native american practices of setting controlled fires, preventing larger fires. There is quite a lot of work on this - here a short overview from the National Park Service
https://www.nps.gov/subjects/fire/indigenous-fire-practices-shape-our-land.htm
We've reached the point of #aoc where my lack of CS degree means I have to look up hints on how to solve the trickier parts. I'm ok with it, though. I learn a ton. Sometimes I even retain the knowledge.
Day 11 part 2 required some help. But as soon as I read the answer, it was a "of course" moment. This was the one that really helped: https://www.reddit.com/r/adventofcode/comments/zizi43/comment/iztt8mx/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
I already know Day 12 is going to require help, but it's fine.
I was not happy not really understanding the factor part of the solution to part2 of #adventofcode #day11 so I did some reading and some experimenting.
This PDF page 211 is where I had my a-ha moment. https://cses.fi/book/book.pdf
When it talks of 'm' the factor == m in the solution I used.
Here is my demo:

#day11 of #AdventOfCode - i am not sure my part2 would have ever finished.. I'm pretty sure it was correct; but it was SLOW and i wasn't doing it the smart way at all. So I found a spoiler and learned from it. Feels dirty but it was helpful.
Here is my part1 code: https://github.com/finalcut/advent_of_code_2022/commit/54f2b22e2314b73b33e528b02b2dd8626bfe81a4
Part 2 is someone elses code. And though I'm not sure I solved the puzzle - I learned a bunch of #rust stuff
https://github.com/finalcut/advent_of_code_2022/blob/main/day11/src/main.rs
I'm hoping I can write better rust after today's lesson

Monkey business. I'm not a big fan of these parsing ones. This was another one that took me more than an hour to parse and about 20 minutes to solve. I might just need to get better at parsing.
Part two took a little bit of thinking to figure out. At first I reached for a bigint library, which very much did not work. I figured repeated modulo of the products would work.

Hmm. First problem reasonably easy.
But how do we keep the worry numbers outside BigInt territory in question 2? Or do we really need to do so - to get the monkey business.
