User: I'm having X problem, I've already rebooted.
Me: The last time you rebooted was 2 weeks ago, it says so here and here.
User: *5 mins later* Ok, I've rebooted it, no change.
Me: You still haven't rebooted, it says so here and here. Reboot.
User: *proceeds to save 5 spreadsheets they had open and reboots*
User: It's working now, thanks!
Me: ... *Close Ticket*
Okay, made it mostly through today. There are 8 post it notes that I need to turn digital before I head home. And I still need to write a meeting agenda. But it wasn't an overall overwhelming day. (10/10)
(if you can't tell I'm updating a literature review for a paper and so I'm rummaging around some citations for Learning analytics -- I'm also openly ignoring my writing colleague on the other side of the Zoom, though I need to ask him a question in about 5 minutes) (9/) #DayInTheLife
Just finished that DMP lecture I mentioned this morning. Powerpoint was being eeeeeeeeeeevil -- random resetting of where things were on the screen and I don't know why? Now I have 30 minutes to eat and not be attached to my keyboard. (9/)
To Do Items in Between Meeting:
* Ask for forgiveness on something I'm about to be late on. I *will* finish it tomorrow.
* Attempt to pay my GAs (system weirdness)
* Confirm book approval for a 600 page coffee table type book with stunning pictures of teeth and gums #Dentistry #DentistryLiaison

Next meeting is "Promoting Collaboration Across Our Institutions" also known as a brief chance to catch up with a nearby colleague. Part work, part omg-how-are-you (7/)
#DayInTheLife
First meeting done, next up-- part of our Promotion and Tenure process is an "evaluation of librarianship" -- a 360 peer eval done at midprobationary and before promotion. I'm chairing two mid-probationary committees this fall. For each candidate we speak to at least 5 people who work directly with them. Most of the time it's a fascinating deep dive into the cool work of my colleagues.

First pass, only 2 emails I actually need to do something with. One of the depts I work with is doing this weird "deep dive into who you ARE" for an upcoming retreat and I just see *so* much data capture that feels very compulsory and it's really unclear how the company will use it (they certainly won't delete it). (4/) #DayInTheLife
Transit #SmallGods smiled on me today and I'm in my office with 13 minutes before meeting #1, holding coffee #2. Which means 7-ish minutes of email. Whee.
I'm currently tracking 4 numbers: number of emails at beginning of day; number at the end; how many emails I've deleted (running total this year); how many emails in my sent box (since Outlook). It helps me go "oh, right, I sent 42 emails today, that's why I'm not writing complete sentences anymore." (3/)
There's a lecture/group discussion on teaching philosophy that I'd really like to go to this afternoon. Unfortunately... I'm teaching then. No, I won't ask for an Aspirational Recording (I think those stifle discussion and when exactly would I watch it). But it is frustrating to feel like I'm always having to miss the chance to attend and learn.

Good morning fellophants! It's a solidly packed Monday, time for a #DayInTheLife
Curious what a #medlib / #datalib / #datapolicy does? Follow along and ask questions (will do my best to be timely)
First up, I'm finishing slides on the train ride in. I've got a data management plan lecture later that I'm drawing from 3 other decks but it's not quite done.

#coffee #DayInTheLife #DogLife #Greyhound Somehow Rocky slept until 0430. Once awake, he charmed #TheStaff (me) into opening the dining rooms and gardens for his amusement. After being fed and doing necessary things, and carefully (not at 0500) checking the environs for undead presences, Rocky went back to sleep. Staff failed open so is now sleep tooting. (Interesting story about the origins of tooting -- would you believe a dare for a contribution? #truth. NO, NOT THAT "Truth")
