This might be because I’ve played too much #DayZ, but I’m tempted to get a simple monocular/viewfinder for when I go out for walks in country areas. Just in case I need to scope out what’s going on around me.

Not coping very well these days. Been many weeks now that I'm in constant need of an escape. Well.. I'm always in need of some escape, but lately the real world has had particularly bad colours and I've felt unusually sensitive to unpleasant influences.

Playing #DayZ has been my escape lately but I can feel myself losing the desire to keep playing (especially after dying stupid deaths, losing everything because I'm bad at the game).

There's the occasional surge of mild inspiration to work on something, but not long/strong enough to make me switch activities. Not to mention I feel kind of blocked on being creative because I'm unhappy with the selection of available tools (programming languages and software) and feel overwhelmed by the gap in knowledge and effort required to do everything from the ground-up the way I like it (which is, on top of everything, ill-defined due to a lack of comprehensive domain knowledge)

Been playing so much #DayZ lately. 10 years after the original mod was released, the game has finally begun to realise its promise.

It's honestly commendable how it has stayed true to the style and feel of its original incarnation. It's basically the original mod but with fewer bugs and more in-depth mechanics.

One of the most enjoyable aspects for me is hiding and finding loot caches. Burying/hiding crates, chests, drybags and other containers in different places on the massive map makes me feel like a fantasy pirate hiding my (sometimes ill-gotten) treasures.

Running into other players is such a thrill, trying to discern if they need to be considered and dealt with as a threat, friend or neutral party.
