@tonyperry @academicchatter brush up on your presentation skills πŸ”₯ ASAP πŸ”₯, well before you even get an invite.

The job talk is one of *the* most important aspects of the interviews, and a won't cut it.

You've been told to put presentation skills on the "backburner" for years, so it's time to catch up ASAP. The job talk needs to be well-designed and engaging.

p.s. I have a job talk/teaching demo playlist on my channel πŸ‘‰ youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrl

If you're ready to take accessibility off the "back burner" and prioritize it, then I'd love to help. (I'm Dr. Echo Rivera, by the way πŸ‘‹, academic presentation coach )

2 ways you can get started:

My free training: stellarslides.com/free-trainin

Me: newsletter: echo-rivera.ck.page/a80d2cbff2

You can also just DM me if you're interested in training or 1:1 coaching.

Let's end and move towards together!

...if we reframe that, it means you're putting ~accessibility~ on the back burner.

Or, worse, it's saying "if my audience wanted to learn the material, they'd just get over their accessibility needs & do it."

Now we start to see bad presentation design for what it is: an inclusion & equity issue. πŸ”₯

My stance: is more than a punchline. It creates exclusionary, isolating, and inequitable learning environments.

I haven't illustrated for a really long time.Testing out a new workflow and drawing style.

What better first image to share than me saying the #1 tip I have to share:

πŸ“£ is not actually PowerPoint's fault.

If you want to create visually engaging presentations, the solution isn't to look for a new app.

You're just as likely to create bad slides in Canva, Prezi, or Google slides. πŸ‘

PPT is actually a great tool...If you use it right. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

Many presentations are already painful because of (with over-reliance on slides with only bullet points).

But I find it equally painful by how many meetings/presentations become tedious because of AV issues which are often because it’s the first time someone is using that particular setup.

Professional presentation coach and trainer here πŸ‘‹

"Using minimal slides" is one of the main causes of .

Fewer slides leads to all kinds of problems from too info much on a slide, small font sizes, and more.

So, together let's that advice and throw it in the bin πŸ—‘οΈπŸ’ͺ.

Use as many slides as you want.

How to stay within a time limit? Practice (ew, I know).

The office switched from Google Slides to PowerPoint recently. I’m killing myself with these subtle UI/UX changes

Like holding SHIFT + MOVING an object in PP doesn’t move it along a straight line like every other app. Holding OPTION doesn’t resize an object from centre 😀😭

*cries in graphic design tears*
