After trying out #antix on an old HP Mini 210 Netbook, I dug out an old and dusty HP Pavilion Slimline previously used by my parents. It's a #32bit Intel Pentium E6500 @ 2.93GHz, 2GB DDR3 1066MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4350 with Windows 7. I did a backup of their personal files and unplugged the HDD. I installed the Samsung #870Evo SSD and decided to install #DebianBookworm #debian12. It went successfully! I just used the i386 CD iso image from the Debian site on the #Ventoy drive. #learninglinux

Running #HomeAssitant on my #raspberrypi4 2gb with #DebianBookworm was so so slow as the browser plus HA ran out of memory. So scrapped the Pi, bought a reconditioned Lenovo Tiny M93p PC from Amazon, wiped the Windows, installed Debian and now it's far better. It's roughly three times the size of the Pi, so that's OK as still small.

That seems to be closer to the root (no pun intended) of your problems, but I'm afraid it's one I haven't seen before and neither, it would appear, has web search engines, which is odd.

106 followers · 1997 posts · Server social.linux.pizza@pn3uma Check the output of "dpkg -l linux-\*" to see if you have mismatched versions. Bullseye is currently on kernel package 5.10.0-23 version 5.10.179-1, and it looks like Bookworm is on kernel package 6.1.0-9 version 6.1.27-1.
If there's a mismatch between the various linux-* packages (linux-image, linux-headers, linux-kbuild, ...), I can certainly see that causing all kinds of issues with building DKMS modules.

A few are stuck on Bullseye as there are packages installed from upstream repos that haven't made Bookworm packages available yet.
