One of the many things observed at #defcon31 at @OpenResearchIns exhibit in @rfhackers RF Village was the need for better voice quality on the #hamradio 2m and 70cm bands.

AMBE and CODEC2 3200 bps are grossly insufficient. The voice quality demos ORI ran (this year and last year) with higher bitrate OPUS codecs confirmed this quite firmly. Better quality reduces fatigue and feels modern, fresh, and innovative. Want to help?

#Defcon31 was an amazing experience. The best time I've had in a long while. I learned to solder, built some badges, tried my hand at lock picking, did a #bluetooth low energy CTF, watched the cDc talk about hacktivism, met some really cool and interesting people and introduced myself to my local DC group.

Oh, and survived a bomb scare 😅

I can't wait to do it again!
