The week I've been mainly reading, No.50:
Carol Armstrong's Odd Man Out: Readings of the Work & Reputation of Edgar Degas (1991) contains a lot of insightful analysis but also spends a little too much time on its source material (here in C19th Parisian art criticism). After reading it, I immediately spent some time re-looking at a range of #Degas' work, which reflects the positive value of the book, even if at times it was a bit over-determined in its #arthistory analyses.
