@jeffbarr Just read the recent blog post about AWS docs on GitHub being retired:
https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/retiring-the-aws-documentation-on-github/
I've been looking into converting the AWS docs into knowledge vaults for #Dendron, #Obsidian, and potentially #Logseq formats so that people could expand their PKM vaults to include official docs content for backlinks, transclusion, etc.
Will the AWS docs on the AWS website still be CC-BY-SA licensed, with MIT licensing for code blocks, or will the docs lose all licensing as a result, too?
@mlibby while reading up on #vscodium, that I discovered while checking out #Dendron, I was slightly surprised at just how much Microsoft seemed to be using its telemetry for developer surveillance. This naturally lead to discussions on their motivations for #VSCode and #GitHub and the fate of #atom. Although mostly speculative, it was credible and scary.
I'll have to ask about telemetry policy at work. Then again, nobody seems to be worried about #PostMan, so I won't hold my breath.
#postman #atom #github #vscode #Dendron #vscodium
I'm gonna keep using it
Dendron is officially in maintenance mode

I tried a lot already. My current favorite is #Logseq, though I’m beginning to notice that „offline first“ has its drawbacks too.
Before I tried #remnote which is really good for spaced repetition, but was a little buggy many month ago.
I used #notion which is really good but I missed layered „bullet points“ and was suspicious of their „too good to be true“ free and lower tier business model.
I used #workflowy, but it was too basic in functionality.
I tried #anytype which is too alpha + hard requirement for local client.
I haven’t spend much time with #obsidian, it looks really good but also no web interface and if I wanted to use it on a work issued notebook I’d have to ask my boss for a license.
I tried #dendron, it was interesting but wasn’t good with media embeds (years ago).
My dream #PKM is #selfhosted optionally, #markdown capable, browser accessible, #PrivacyFirst, code highlighting, spaced repetition learning features and a clever concept on how to integrate bigger site attachments. I think it doesn’t exist yet. What comes closest is #logseq

Created a bare-bones GitHub organization as a place to store #Dendron formatted vaults:
I also have a group on GitLab:
https://gitlab.com/docsgarden/
Thinking one will be a mirror of the other. #DocsGarden will be where I store #opensource and #creativecommons licensed content that's been converted into vaults compatible with @Dendron 🌱
I really love the idea of being able to download knowledge directly into #PKM #ToolsForThought, and I like how Dendron handles multi-vault

Figured out how to do text snippets in Visual Studio Code for Dendron notes. My wish for this world is less JSON.
Update on #Dendron note taking software. I think I like it because it is an improved version of what I was already doing before: keeping some README and keeping a research journal. Almost every organisation/productivity system that helped me and I sticked to use was an improved version of what I was naturally doing.
Well, it's been a long time since I updated my blog - my current #markdown #notetaking system using #VSCode and #Dendron:

@erock Nice! That's a good list. From what you list, I'm a big fan of #Dendron on desktop, and #Obsidian on mobile :)
As for other apps: hard to say, because it depends on line between PKM and note-taking. When I do think PKM/SecondBrain/etc. I do think of what you list (Foam, Logseq, Obsidian, Dendron, Notion, etc.).
Misc. depending on the line (some not released yet):
- Heptabase
- vim / vimwiki
- Napkin
- Tangent Notes
- Organizedly
- Nota
- Coda
- Typora
- Unigraph
- Zotero
- Working Copy
