Back from the #Dentist shaking like a leaf.

To treat my gum disease he suggested having a "good clean" round the point on my teeth where the teeth meet the gums. To do this he needed to numb my mouth. I hate those injections as I think most people do.

Anyway he number the top and bottom right side of my face and had a dig around. It took ages and when he finished it was well bloody.

So I am a wreck.

Plus, we get to do it all again I n the left, next Friday.

This knuckle-duster belonged to dentist Frederick Smith. Smith was a dentist in Chesterfield. He carried this knuckle-duster as protection from "highwaymen" on his weekly horse drawn cab journey to his practice in Alfreton.

Napoleon's Toothbrush, c.1790. Napoleon brushed his teeth regularly using opium-based toothpaste. His toothbrush has a silver gilt handle and bristles made of horsehair, which would have been very rough on the gums.

So following @jimenagb advice, I went to another #dentist, the uncle of a friend. This is an old guy with less equipment but more experience. He found 3 potential teeth to repair and he's doing the job one at a time. He's not so chatty but seems to know better. I'm in his waiting room right now. I hate going to the dentist but at least I trust this guy more than the other.

Have finished at the #dentist, scaled and polished as much as he can.

He tells me that if we/he can’t improve my gum disease I’ll have to be referred to a specialist dentist at the hospital.

How did I get into this mess?

The best concoction I've ever created, post-dentist, is Stove Top Stuffing and Idaho Instant Mashed Potatoes (Butter edition).
