@captainpovey Enjoyed listening on BBC Radio 4 Extra on BBC Sounds recently to a rediscovered recording of Desert Island Discs from 1971 with Ronnie Corbett. This was still relatively early in his career (he was only 40 and the programme was recorded during the first season of 'The Two Ronnies'), so he reflected a great deal on his early years growing up in Edinburgh. Definitely worth a listen.

I've got a theory that there are a subset of things on TV/radio that are _extra_ successful, because not only do you get to enjoy them, but get to enjoy imagining how it would go if you were on them yourself.
