#Introduction I am Saara Kamppari-Miller, and I am a #designer geeking. When I was studying #HCI in grad school I bought a Geek mug, and so when I needed a new online handle, this mug gave me inspiration. I am currently an Inclusive #DesignOps Program Manager in the Intel #Accessibility Office, meaning that I am helping UX teams adopt #InclusiveDesign practices. #Gardening is my favorite way to relax and get away from technology. I absolutely love living in a walkable and bikeable neighborhood.

Speaking of other parts of the garden, you probably don't do major changes in all parts of the garden at the same time. You focus on making a big change in one area, while still weeding and watering the rest. Then the next season you focus that extra effort and intention in a different area. It doesn't mean the previous one matters less now. It just needs a different type of care. Especially if you are a solo gardener. (Hashtag, still making a #DesignOps analogy)

People use the garden analogy a lot in the DesignOps community, that we are tending to a garden. What about using it for talking about failure and failed experiments? That there is a natural cycle of growth and decay in a garden. Some plants bloom bright when they are first planted, but then they don't stick. It wasn't the right environment for them to thrive. And that's okay. You try a different plant, a different initiative, the next time. #DesignOps
