Not to mention that people who say some bs about "#Unix #Principle" but then use basically a #TUI-#Desktop with #email client, #filemanager and #editor rolled up in one kinda discredits them...

In the end it kinda dependa on the setup and individual / organizational demands:
For those looking for a replacement for #ChromeOS & #Gsuite or #Office365, #PorteusKiosk + #NextcloudHub is a good combo.

Not that I don't think #Floppinux is bad - far from it.
But considering that #TinyCore #Linux can do 17 MB apparently with default userland and 23 MB with #Xorg + #Desktop I do want to get things to just work without being able to at least have #IPv4 #Ethernet working and being able to mount #SMB shares or at least #SSH into things using #Dropbear.

You'll likely need to read datasheets then, but otherwise they're great if you need some silent #Terminal or #MiniServer.

You can get one used with 4 GB RAM, WiFi and power supply for less than a @Raspberry_Pi #Pi4B2GB or #CM4WLite1GB at MSRP.
It'll run anything from #RaspberryPiOS for #ix86 and #lightweight #Linux distros like @bunsenlabs #BunsenLabsLinux to @ubuntu #UbuntuServer LTS and even @tails #Tails.
Tho #UbuntuDesktop will feel very slow on it.
But with something like #Porteus it's fine.

There's a reason Distros like #AlpineLinux, #ChimeraLinux and almost all #embedded systems using #Busybox or #Toybox want to get rid of #glibc if not replace it with something like #uClinux, #musl,or another #libc...
Because glibc bricking stuff with minor updates kills any #CCSS and any non-#FLOSS that can't be recompiled.
And what RMS et. al. may see as intentional, I think is the biggest issie that prevents #Linux from dominating #Desktop|s!

You selected the foreground and background color you wanted for the pattern (black was a common background) and presto, a clean low-distraction desktop wallpaper with very little effort. Instead we seem headed away from tiled wallpapers completely. Instead we seem to be abandoning tiled desktop backgrounds entirely.

However, since I use a #touchscreen both on my #laptop (16") and my #desktop (24") to my eyes (and fingers) the proportions and look in both dark and light mode are really pretty much perfect (easy to grab and clean, modern and beautiful). 😇

That means no #smartphone , no #laptop , no #tablet , or even an old school feature phone.
#Desktop computer and landline phone. Maybe an MP3 player (still on the fence on this one.) Designated tech for specific uses that doesn't move. And I'm not even thinking a cordless landline. Corded.

Tried it with GNOME and Cinnamon, works perfectly with both. The only "issue" is it doesn't pin Flatpaks to panel but that's just a small thing, probably gets fixed in the future.
It can save a lot of time for distrohoppers.
