The first two X-Men Dice Throne characters have been revealed: Wolverine and Psylocke.
The most interesting aspect of Psylocke is using a special 6th dice that can do extra damage or substitute for any one die in the roll result.
I really wanted another season of DT characters, but I was surprised how much I love the idea of 8 X-Men Characters. (Which 8 has not been revealed). The new co-operative game is called Missions. I wonder if it is RPG-ish or what.
For those that don't play Dice Throne, the other co-op game is a pointcrawl with character upgrades.
No idea what the third item of the Kickstarter will be. Woot!

Noted from the 3 Sanderson II Universe:
Made it to my monthly paycheck today. Woot! Thanks to my wife, we pulled all kinds of shenanigans to get here.
I plan to do a lot of writing and gaming during my upcoming two week vacation. Woot!
There will be a Dice Throne campaign and a Cypher System campaign. I also hope to get a chunk of the Rogue from Nowhere written.

The family completed the first session of the Dice Throne Adventures campaign. Not a bad scorre (26). Next stop, the Fallen Gunslinger.
I played the Paladin, and the kids were Thor and Black Panther.
I didn't add any homebrew minions or bosses in this one.

Got to play Dice Throne today. Woot!
I was Dr. Strange and my son was Thor. He didn't win with his actual roll, but with the ability to deal undefendable damage retrieving Mjolnir.
Still a great game.
I had a lot of fun running through the combinations of the 4 characters in the main #MarvelDiceThrone box. So, much that I had my son pick up an expansion for me (from the same store with the big sale).
Since playing solo, I've tried with two gamer friends. Both reactions were lukewarm, which is concerning. The goal with most of my games is to enjoy them with others. Did I miss something? I'll keep trying.

Geekery of the Day: #BoardGames #DiceThrone I have grown to love this game. It even has an adventure mode where you can play together instead of versus. Exceedingly well done game.
Very excited to get Marvel Dice Throne in November’s math trade! I feel we got a great deal, having traded away Walnut Grove, but hopefully everyone in the trade chain is happy with what they got. I know I’m very excited to play this!

Ramblings from yesterday about a Dice Throne RPG will hopeful turn into a rules outline and two example characters this weekend.
Still a lot to think through, but just writing them down in a thread before I forget them.
This reminds me, need to finish the first pointcrawl for Dice Throne Adventures soon.
Exploration would be similar to Dice Throne Adventures, but laying down hex tiles as the players move through the area.
Players will choose roles similar to those in Forbidden Lands: travel, trailblazer, defender, gatherer, etc. As they move through, the players will take turns to determine success in their roles. Success or failure would affect the party's resources and possibly their health. The Referee would provide positive & negative status effects as needed.
Then, when there is an encounter that requires an action, they can react quickly by playing cards and making rolls.
Without having the player make those 4 draws ahead of time, their character board would still have only combat abilities.
With 8 cards in their hand and using a minimum of 1 of them, it is equivalent to preparing for the day. If the party in exploring some wilderness, the players can add some abilities to keep from getting lost or boost foraging attempts.
In Dice Throne, there are eight phases in a turn, three of which are combat (Offensive Roll, Targeting, Defensive Roll). In non-combat situation, the other five would still be used. To make roleplaying easier, instead of waiting to take a turn at the start of an encounter, the player would take 4 non-combat turns at the beginning of the game day to cover the next day's actions. They could choose either deck for the 4 initial cards and the 4 additional cards drawn.
There will need to be a non-combat deck as everything about the original game is combat focused. These cards would allow for exploration/social interaction buffs. There would also be cards that replace abilities on the character board. For the price of losing a combat ability, an exploration or social ability would be gained.
As a result of having two decks to draw from, the max hand size would change from 6 to 7.
I enjoy playing Dice Throne, a game described as Yahtzee meets Magic the Gathering. There is an active homebrew community with over 100 characters available.
Over the past few months, some have asked for a table-top role-playing game based on the game. Since the game itself focuses entirely on combat, any RPG based on Dice Throne would need ways to include social interaction and/or exploration. Here are my thoughts:
At first I really liked #DiceThrone, but the more I play it, it seems like there’s less strategy and more just rolling dice hoping for results. I’m certain multi-player is too random, but I think 1v1 is still maybe interesting.
