#DietPi looks interesting from initial looks. Turns out that I have a #RaspberryPi400 on which I am currently running #raspbian. And sometimes I wish I had more efficient OS. The reason why I think about making it as #homelab #server with #vpn and #ssh are:
1. Low power
2. Enough power for basic applications
3. Swap whole disk by just replacing SD card
Thinking about trying #nixos also to check on its performance.

Realistically, how important is it to have your #homelab protected by an SSL cert?
Getting Jellyfin, Nextcloud, etc. setup using #Dietpi was trivial, but using Let's Encrypt or similar seems non-trivial, particularly without opening up the Pi to the internet with port forwarding.
Basically, in sleepy suburbia, if someone is intercepting and decrypting my wifi traffic, I assume I have much bigger problems?
Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about this until Nextcloud was installed.
Anyone know of a Minecraft Bedrock server I can run in my local network on a Raspberry Pi running DietPi?
I would like a solution with a webgui so I can change settings and other stuff. Want to create a sever for my two sons where they can play on with their iPads. I think Bedrock works on PS4 too, but not sure.
I’ve looked at AMP (https://cubecoders.com/AMP/Minecraft) but that costs money. Can’t try if it’s exactly what I need. I prefer a free option but don’t mind to pay.
I get a surprising amount of, "so... how are _you_ doing?" lately. I'm not sure if it's a positive or deep concern being voiced, but I guess it's nice to be asked. Anyway!
Some recent #homelab stuff, recabled the 12U rack under my desk, reimaged the #NanoPi nodes with #DietPi.
@x0 @LunaFoxgirlVT The best one I saw earlier was some #DietPi documentation. You can make the distro do an automated install, and they document that it's possible. However, instead of documenting all the options in dietpi.txt, they tell you to just look at the example file. Not an absolute dealbreaker for the target audience, but still lousy.
@todbot @oh_that_courtney why hijack the hashtag? It is already a mess of protest toots. Perhaps the better alternative is to use hashtags that relate to the project you seek to use the hardware for.
Or, just look at the wide variety of boards that #dietpi runs on.
Got the old #raspberrypi model B up and running as #Tor server hiddenservice and thanks to #DietPi
Another week, another project! Decided to move onto HUB75 RGB matrices running native Python on Raspberry Pi's!
Combining PyGame, RGB Matrices, MQTT and DietPi and reusing most of my previous learnings from Micro/CircuitPython on the Matrix Portal M4 etc
Still WIP, but thought I'd share: https://github.com/jinglemansweep/pygame-rgb-matrix
Need a better GIF on the README, in reality, it pans around a large randomly generated "farmscape". Need to finish animal animation first!

I have started with #Mastodon after a few year hiatus. I feels that a real #introduction is worth it especially as I am going to ditch #Twitter. #pinned
I'm Michael. I'm a 45 year old #FamilyPractice #physician living in #Vancouver #Washington. I love #3DPrinting and have a #Prusa #MK3S. I also have several #RaspberryPi #RPiZero running #DietPi. I am a fan of #OpenSource and taking back #privacy from large corporations. I'm a #Vim user and have been using #python on my ipad. I love #literature, play the #Ukulele, and am #LDS.
