A brief #introduction: Looking for #HamRadio community as I explore digital modes and other things suited to portable/QRP operation. Anyone in North America up for a #20m #Olivia #digimode sked?

Tried again, unsuccessfully, to get #FT8 to work on my #FT857 without sound coming from the speaker. Turning the volume down kills audio from the data port, as does unplugging the speaker. My audio interface, which worked fine with dataport audio, doesn't work with the external speaker jack... even though it works with an external speaker. Out of ideas. #digimode #digimodes

I've got a XggComms cable to connect my FT-891 to my Android phone. I should be QRV for #PSK31 #digimode during field operation.
DIN to transceiver and audio jacks to phone (with a Y). Transceiver in VOX mode.

@k2za @MW1CFN For the IC-705, yes: https://roskosch.de/sdr-control-ios/ from DL8MRE. I mostly listen on my 705 (yeah, I know, "get with it, Peter") but it will do FT8, 'phone, and I believe CW.
It also supports the IC-7610 and 9700 explicitly, though via their LAN connection (705 has Wi-Fi).
So if you have any of those radios, you're good! :-D

"Thread" here is fraught with expectations that may not be met ... Regardless, the only time you'd need sub-second time accuracy in the field is if U are doing a #digimode from the #WSJT suite (RTTY & other legacy data modes don't care) so U have *some* sort of computer & if U don't have TCP/IP, you can always pull from the sky. Looks like a GPS dongle is only about US$35 (probably less - that was in the first 5 google responses).
My setup seems to work in #digimode
π» Raspberry Pi with wsjtx
:radio_base: FTdx10 about 50w
:radio_tower: EFHW (about 23m of wire and a coil near the end for 40m) sloping over the roof
When operating #digimode through VNC (I have a RPi in the shack), it is easy to adapt input audio level to get a good signal in the software.
But it is more difficult to see if your output audio level is correct when you don't see the powermeter of the rig.
I have the bad (or good) habit to let the rig power limit to 90W (of 100w) and to adapt the audio level to set power of the signal.

Played with #fldigi today for the first time and made my 1st QSO using #olivia. So many things to do in #amateurRadio β¦
