I'd been hearing this bird for a while before I finally saw it swooping between low bushes.
The first picture was, unfortunately, taken through a small shrub so it looks a little washed out. Starting to think it may be worth investing in a proper camera / lens rather than strapping my phone to a monocular.

Starting to figure out how to use the scope and get some better shots. It's much easier with the larger birds that tend to stand still for a bit.

Got a spotting scope and the zoom capability is a game-changer. Even having forgot my tripod and camera adapter, the pictures came out pretty well.

Backyard #BarredOwl sighting this morning.
First time I've seen one of the owls perch on the nestboxes. The red-shouldered hawks do it often.
