Currently I have #IsoBuster running in a Windows 7 VM on my #BitCurator workstation, but the size assigned to the VM is a limiting factor at the moment. I can open the .gi file and extract the contents, but I can only work with one disk at a time. Also it takes way more steps than I am interested in… :/ #digipres #DigitalForensics #fileformats

I’ve got some disk images in the .gi format, and I’m looking for a tool to read it. My basic search suggests IsoBuster, but are there any tools that run on Linux that would get the job done? For the #digipres #digitalForensics crowd - a few years ago I published a workflow description for imaging 3.5" #floppies, which included a Tableau USB write blocker.
Turns out this device does in fact not work well with USB floppy drives (I have a confirmation on this from the manufacturer). This can result in faulty or incomplete captures. More details in the updated workflow description:
