#DigitalOcean gets a lot of things right. And at WMD we can attest to that. We were considering fully switching over to Vultr because they offer AlmaLinux (and also Windows) VPSes. In several calls with DO we mentioned our preference for AlmaLinux over Rocky (though they are essentially the same). They listened!

Setting up my own #Mastodon server was mostly easy thanks to the 1-click install from
#DigitalOcean. Had to manually enable cli tools after the fact, but otherwise perfection! Also, verifying my website link was a snap!

Hi there! I created this account back in April when Musk acquired twitter and I saw the writing on the wall. But I've mostly been lurking until the past two weeks lots of my friends from twitter #twittermigration have also created accounts here in the fediverse and i've been trying to follow them here.

Thanks to @SteveRogers for helping me get my account and header all set up.

I created my twitter account back in 2008 to use with my open source work back then and am looking forward to getting involved again if the opportunity arises. I've enjoyed looking through the code base and developer conversations for #Mastodon.

I've been talking to some friends about setting up our own mastodon server. We were going to go with #mastohost, but they still seem to be closed for new business, so am now looking at using #digitalocean.

@phyrexian I’ve got @mastodon.malmorrow.com going as a #DigitalOcean droplet since the weekend. I’m halfway towards a configurable Kubernetes-based configuration which would be suitable for the scale of service the whole of #SouthAfrica might eventually need.

Friends considering building your own #Instance.

Do not, under any circumstances, use the "One-Click" droplet in the #DigitalOcean marketplace. It is running a version of Ubuntu from July of 2018 and Mastodon from April of 2020. There are multiple Github issues already referring to this problem. If you want to install a secure, full-featured version of Mastodon on your new server, consider going through the full instructions from scratch.
